Greetings One and All, Happy October!

I appreciate October. I love the changing colors in the trees, and somehow clear October skies look even bluer. I like to watch the beans move from lush green to warm yellow, and then to the color of rust. The Corn, too, has finished its work: The stalks wither and recede, only cradling their bounty until the combine comes to receive it. And I’ve always liked the cooler nights, though not so much the shortening days, for there is not less to do under the sun.
October reminds me that our earthly life is short, and yet that message comes with beauty and fullness, insisting that we must not anticipate the winter. Indeed for those who love the Lord, it is not a winter that awaits, but a new season of life eternal. A new season of ever budding springs and ever rich and colored autumns. God has provided this; promised this, in the sending of His Son.
So let us live together in the rich color and bounty of October, forgetting not the springtime promise of God’s gifts and blessings. Let us have joy in our hearts that He has put us here to love and nurture one another in all the between times. In this season of harvest, it is also the season to plant.
The peace of Christ be upon you,
-Pastor Brian
